CMC joins Media Training and Fellowship for Filipino Communicators
Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), through the Institutional Marketing and Communications Office, has been invited by The Probe Media Foundation, Inc. (PMFI) for a MEDIA TRAINING AND FELLOWSHIP FOR FILIPINO COMMUNICATORS on January 30-31,2023 for an in- face Media training at Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City.
By BUILDING the capacity of Filipino storytellers (journalists, reporters, online content creators, campus journalists, etc.) to tell informed, impactful, and thought-provoking BARMM narratives using an inter-sectional gender lens and culturally sensitive approach; PROVIDING opportunities to create multimedia, multi-platform stories with an inter-sectional gender and culturally-sensitive lens on relevant BARMM issues, with a focus on underreported sectors and lastly, Encourage discussion and engagement on BARMM stories that challenge negative perceptions, are the main objectives of this media training.
“Telling the BARMM Story: Media Training and Fellowship” by the Probe Media Foundation, Inc. project addresses this need by enhancing capacities and providing opportunities to BARMM storytellers to cover issues with an inter-sectional gender lens and culturally sensitive approach. Their stories amplify the points of view of women, girls, indigenous communities, and other relevant stakeholders. Their voices must be included in the dialogue and decisions to help shift narratives on negative perceptions of Muslim Filipinos and foster solidarity and cohesion that has been fractured by years of armed conflict.
PMFI is a non-profit organization that aims to build the capacities of professional and aspiring journalists to report on important yet oft-overlooked issues to contribute to positive social change.
The program is conducted by the Probe Media Foundation, Inc. in partnership with The Asia Foundation (TAF) under the Activate Bangsamoro Phase II supported by the UK Government – Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.
