CMC Holds UMMAH Para sa Kalinaw Stakeholders’ Forum to Promote
Multiculturalism and Inclusivity
Central
Mindanao Colleges (CMC), recently organized a stakeholders’ forum titled
“UMMAH Para sa Kalinaw: Madaris Education Extension Project Stakeholders’
Forum” on March 3, 2023, at 1:30 PM, CMC Building 9.
The
event was attended by various stakeholders of the institution and was led by
the College of Teacher Education (CTE), Center for Social Action (CSA), and the
Center for International Affairs and Linkages (CIAL).
The
primary objective of the forum was to create student organizations for minority
groups within the CMCian community, promote peace education, and engage
internal and external stakeholders in safe dialogues within the City of
Kidapawan.
The
forum served as an avenue for participants to contribute to the creation of
frameworks and policies that will facilitate the organization of student
associations and the development of sustainable, relevant, and timely projects
that will benefit the larger community. These initiatives will eventually
become inclusive community extension programs for the institution.
As
a non-sectarian academic institution that embraces multiculturalism, diversity,
and inclusivity, CMC recognizes the importance of promoting and upholding the
rights of minority groups, such as Muslims and Indigenous Peoples in Mindanao,
both within and outside the school.
The
forum was successful in establishing a safe and inclusive space for the CMCian
community to discuss and address the needs of minority groups.
With
the frameworks and policies established during the forum, CMC is now better
equipped to provide sustainable support to these groups and ensure that their
voices are heard and their rights are protected. The institution is committed
to pursuing interventions that address the needs of its stakeholders through
its Instruction, Research, and Community Engagement.
