CMC JPICE Collaborates with MKWD for a Tree Planting Activity

On April 20, 2023, the Central Mindanao Colleges Junior Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (CMC JPICE) partnered with the Metro Kidapawan Water District to conduct a tree planting activity as part of the Month of Planet Earth celebrations. The event was a significant contribution towards environmental conservation and sustainability and showcased CMC’s support for environmental protection and stewardship.

Dubbed “Oplan, Balik Kalikasan!” the tree planting activity was held at the MKWD Saguing Watershed Area in Barangay Perez, Kidapawan City. Trees play a vital role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystem by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen, which is essential for human survival. The act of planting trees in this area aimed to improve water quality and prevent soil erosion, water pollution, and other environmental problems.

The MKWD Saguing Watershed Area was selected as the ideal location for the tree planting activity due to its high potential for environmental degradation. The area is prone to flooding and landslides, which can lead to soil erosion and water pollution. The planting of trees in this location is a crucial step in reducing the risk of such environmental disasters.

By participating in this event, the CMC Junior Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (CMC JPICE) and the Metro Kidapawan Water District demonstrated their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainability. The event served as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of investing in the planet and working towards creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
