“King of kings and Lord of lords.”- Rev.19:16
The Solemnity of Christ the King is celebrated during the last Sunday of the liturgical year.
This was instituted by His Holiness Pope Pius XI in 1925 through his encyclical titled ‘Quas Primas’ or ‘In the First.’
The encyclical was written as a response to to growing secularism and atheism.
This solemnity reminds us that while governments come and go, Christ reigns as King forever.
